Kinda ended up being a "don't meet your heroes" type thing. Maybe it just needed an alignment or something, but the steering was really pretty vauge...power steering felt something like what you get in a camry except somehow less linear in buildup of resistance. I guess I always figured they had more steering feel than that. I drive an old Outback with a considerably heftier helm

Regardless, engine is glorious when you get the revs up there, sounds great, but (being a Honda) is not big on low end torque. For what it's worth I'm also not a huge fan of the automatics in these.

Also came with typical Honda road noise and rode like a dump truck, which I actually found pretty enjoyable in my own way. Didn't get to explore any curves, so I'm just gonna believe the internet that Integras are fun on back roads.

but not what I was expecting, I must say...

15-20 year old import. In the mid 90s, that was hot shit. Compared to what's on the market now...nope.

Makes sense. The internet sort of led me to believe they were a type of infallible automotive deity, like they do with Miatas

Miatas are fun though, I've driven a ragged out NA and an NC. Its a special kind of fun, but , fun nonetheless.

Was it a Type R ? With a 15-20 year old car, things are bound to lose some of their feel. I've driven couple year old civics whose EPS felt completely different from other same-model-year cars.

nah, just a run of the mill beater my buddy's had for a while. Going in I knew it'd feel a little off, it's got 160k miles, but I have a 100k+ mile car myself and it's a totally different feel. Not that what I have is sporty in the least either

Trust me, find a well cared for Type R or even a clean GSR and it'll have you pulling for more and more and more. God I love how that thing revved (was lucky enough to have a GSR for my first car, with CTR cams, headwork, and basically all but the bottom end it would pull all the way to 9200RPM haha).
